“We’re very excited about the MCLE certification,” said Eric Bruno, Chief Technology Officer at Marathon Records. “Erroneous record keeping for IOLTA accounts is one of the easiest ways to get disciplined by a State Bar Association. This program will help the solo and small firm attorney learn how to safeguard these critical records and avoid those issues that invite an inquiry from the state disciplinary system.” Continues Bruno, “the state bar, through its recent survey, has shown the importance it places on attorneys’ full knowledge of the trust accounting rules. We’re confident our program will help attorneys navigate the many pitfalls inherent in the accounting and bookkeeping rules governing their ethical responsibilities in this area.”
Interested participants may sign up for on line classes scheduled for Thursday, October 15th at 4:00 PM PST and Friday, October 16th at 3:00 PM PST. Sign up today!
Building on two prior successful trips to California, Marathon Records is also planning a trip to the West Coast to conduct the class in person later this fall.
Marathon Records is offering everyone who signs up for a class a free six-month trial of their accounting program, IOLTA One. IOLTA One is a cloud-based application that enables users to ensure they are accurately maintaining all required records relating to funds held in trust accounts. Developed by a team of attorneys and accountants, IOLTA One is accurate, easy to use and reduces the responsibility of maintaining IOLTA account records to a simple data entry process.
Keeping inaccurate trust account records or misusing client funds (regardless of whether the misuse is negligent or intentional) is the easiest way for an attorney to be disciplined in California. This CLE will provide attorneys with the tools and knowledge needed to avoid common errors and to maintain full compliance with CA Rule 4-100.
Topics covered will include: IOLTA compliance as a non-delegable duty; basic facts and key concepts on CA Rule 4-100 and overall compliance; the importance of proper record keeping as required by the rules of professional conduct and the State Bar. Time will be provided for Q and A as well.
